Fakita battery kit fails on basic physical compatibility and assembly
Monster capacity meets mounting misery
The dream of a DIY 30-cell battery pack, theoretically pushing Fakita battery kit, sounds like the ultimate power upgrade for any tool bench. On paper, the Fakita battery kit offers a massive 5S6P configuration that should dwarf standard high-output packs. However, the hardware I received is a chaotic mismatch. The provided Control PCB simply does not align with the internal mounting pips or screw holes of the battery frame. It’s a classic case of "part-bin engineering" where the seller likely threw incompatible components into a bag and called it a kit.
Stubborn silicone blocks reverse engineering
Trying to diagnose the board's quality is an exercise in frustration thanks to a thick layer of stubborn silicone. While it provides some moisture protection and secures components against vibration, it makes troubleshooting impossible. Any attempt to scrape it away risks ripping tiny surface-mount resistors right off the pads. This "shmoo" covers the critical voltage monitoring circuitry, effectively locking the design behind a wall of rubbery gunk. If a single component fails under the high load of a 30-cell array, you won't be repairing it; you'll be binning it.

Inside the CM1053 management logic
Beneath the silicone, the board runs on the CM1053 chip, a standard and generally reliable battery management processor. It utilizes current sense resistors (0.001 ohm total) to monitor load and features a 100K thermistor for thermal protection. However, the design deviates from the official datasheet in its MOSFET gate driving. There is also a concerning Diode and Resistor path that allows a sub-1mA trickle even when the chip should be shut down. In a remote solar setup, this parasitic creep could eventually overcharge cells if left indefinitely.
Final verdict on the 30-cell gamble
Despite the allure of 30 18650 cells in a single housing, this kit is a pass. The physical incompatibility requires awkward "bodging" that shouldn't exist in a retail product. While the Cell assembly frame itself is decent, the electronics are frustratingly unserviceable and physically mismatched. You are better off using 30 high-quality cells for a custom power bank or a project where the components actually fit the chassis.

The trashiest electronic channel on YouTube. We test and use affordable electronic soldering equipment and tools to build, teardown, modify (and sometimes destroy) random electronic stuff. A British TV licence is NOT required to view my videos or almost every other video on YouTube. Many of the builds and projects featured here operate at full mains voltage and carry a high risk of shock and fire. As such they're really intended for either entertainment value or for those who do similar stuff. The videos are generally uncensored and may contain tasteless jokes, profanities and even blood and electric shocks when things go wrong. So just like a normal workshop really. So kick back, grab a beer and enjoy the ride.
