Coll de Rates is a mountain pass located in the comarca of Marina Alta, within the Valencian Community of Spain, in the province of Alicante. Situated between the Ferrer mountains and the Carrascar de Parcent mountain range, it divides the regions of Marina Alta and Marina Baja. The pass reaches an elevation of 628 meters (2,060 feet). The CV-715 road runs through it, connecting Benidorm with Gandía, via Pego.
Coll de Rates is renowned as one of the most popular cycling climbs in Spain, drawing both amateur and professional cyclists. The ascent from Parcent is particularly famous, holding almost mythical status. The climb is approximately 6.5 kilometers (4.04 miles) long, with an average gradient of around 5%. The summit offers stunning views, including vistas of the Costa Blanca and the Mediterranean Sea. Recently, Tadej Pogačar set a new record on the climb in December 2025 with a time of 11:57.
