Thomas Jacob "Jack" Black (born August 28, 1969) is an American actor, comedian, and musician known for his high-energy comedic performances in film and television. Black gained widespread recognition for his role in High Fidelity (2000) and subsequently starred in numerous comedies, including Shallow Hal, School of Rock, Nacho Libre, and Tropic Thunder. He is also the lead vocalist and guitarist of the comedy rock duo Tenacious D, alongside Kyle Gass. Tenacious D has released five albums and won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. Black's contributions to the entertainment industry have been recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In recent years, Black has continued to be a prominent figure in both acting and music. He voiced Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023), which was a box office success, and reprised his role as Po in Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024). Other recent projects include roles in History of the World, Part II and The Mandalorian. He also starred as Satan in the Christmas comedy Dear Santa (2024). Black is slated to appear in the upcoming video game adaptation A Minecraft Movie (2025).
