Christopher Anthony John Martin (born March 2, 1977) is an English singer, songwriter, musician, and producer, widely recognized as the lead vocalist, pianist, and co-founder of the rock band Coldplay. Martin met his future bandmates, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion, at University College London, and together they formed Coldplay in 1997. Coldplay initially went by the names Big Fat Noises and Starfish. The band gained global fame with their debut album "Parachutes" in 2000, featuring the hit single "Yellow".
As the frontman of Coldplay, Martin has achieved significant critical and commercial success. The band has sold over 160 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music acts of the 21st century. Coldplay has won seven Grammy Awards and nine Brit Awards.
