The University of Bath is a public research university located in Bath, England, that received its royal charter in 1966 as the Bath University of Technology. It can trace its roots back to the Merchant Venturers' Technical College, which was established in Bristol in 1595. The university's main campus was purpose-built in a modernist style on Claverton Down, overlooking the city.
