Trek Bicycle Corporation is an American manufacturer and distributor of bicycles, cycling products, and electric motorcycles. It operates under the brand names Trek, Electra Bicycle Company, Bontrager, and Diamant Bikes. Founded in 1976 in Waterloo, Wisconsin, by Richard Burke and Bevil Hogg, Trek initially produced steel touring frames. Today, Trek markets its products through a network of 1,700 independently owned bicycle shops in North America and through subsidiaries and distributors in 90 countries worldwide. John Burke, son of co-founder Richard Burke, currently serves as the President and CEO.
Trek offers a wide range of bicycles, including mountain, road, electric, and hybrid models, as well as cycling accessories, apparel, and maintenance products. Innovation and sustainability are key focuses, with flagship models like the Madone road bike and Supercaliber mountain bike showcasing advanced engineering. Recently, Trek has faced challenges including overstock, rising debt, and weakening sales. In November 2025, the company recalled over 75,000 bikes due to faulty coaster brakes. However, Trek is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026 with a limited-edition collection of bikes and paint schemes. In January 2026, Trek's President, John Burke, was announced to be speaking at the Bicycle Leadership Conference.
