Specialized Bicycle Components, colloquially known as SPECIALIZED, is an American company that designs, manufactures, and markets bicycles, cycling components, and related products. Founded in 1974 by Mike Sinyard in Morgan Hill, California, the company initially imported Italian bicycle components. By 1976, Specialized began producing its own parts, starting with the Specialized Touring Tire. In 1981, Specialized introduced its first bikes, the Sequoia and the Allez, and the Stumpjumper, the first mass production mountain bike. Specialized serves a global market, offering products for professional athletes, cycling enthusiasts, and everyday riders.
Specialized offers a wide array of products under the Specialized and S-Works brands, as well as high-end components under the Roval name. These offerings include mountain bikes, road bikes, gravel bikes, and e-bikes, along with components, apparel, and accessories. The company is recognized for its contributions to cycling technology, including pioneering wind tunnel technology and the first production mountain bike. In May 2024, Armin Landgraf replaced Scott Maguire as CEO. Specialized is one of the biggest bicycle brands operating in the United States, alongside Trek and Giant.
