HJC reveals custom Korean Dancheong cycling helmets for GCN team
Escape From the Midday Heat

The air outside was thick and heavy, the kind of crushing heat that makes asphalt sticky and turns every pedal stroke into a battle. Searching for a brief reprieve, the ride paused at the HJC Lounge. Inside, the cool blast of air conditioning offered instant salvation. It was a moment to reset, refuel with strong coffee, and share stories with the crew before tackling the remaining miles of the route.
From Moto Heritage to High-Speed Cycling
While HJC built its powerhouse reputation protecting motorcycle racers on the world's fastest circuits, the brand is actively carving out territory in the cycling world. Their lounge showcases a museum-worthy gallery of custom-painted lids, highlighting the transition of their motorsport aerodynamic expertise over to human-powered performance gear.
Unveiling the South Korean Tribute
Among the displays, the real prize emerged: custom-designed Global Cycling Network helmets sporting a brilliant paint scheme inspired by traditional South Korean Dancheong artistic patterns. The intricate, colorful wood-paint style, historically used to decorate royal palaces, stood out instantly against the standard carbon and matte finishes of typical road gear. It was a striking collision of modern speed and deep-rooted heritage.
Riding Out in Royal Style
With 40 kilometers left to ride, the team swapped their standard gear for the new custom lids. The destination was set for the historic Gyeongbokgung Palace. Pedaling through traffic wearing gear inspired by the very architecture of the royal destination bridged the gap between raw athletic effort and the deep culture of the landscape.
