Nothing OS 3.1 is the latest update for the Nothing Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro, released globally on March 24, 2025. A key feature of this update is the enhanced integration of the "Essential Key," a new hardware button found on the Phone (3a) series, with the camera app. Users can now use the Essential Key to directly capture content within the camera app, with a short press adding a note and a long press enabling voice input. This integration aims to streamline the process of documenting ideas and separating quality photos from photo reminders within Nothing's "Essential Space".
Essential Space is an AI-powered hub designed for capturing, processing, and recalling notes and ideas. Nothing OS 3.1 brings improvements to Essential Space and camera enhancements, system optimizations, and new features. The update also includes camera improvements such as more intuitive zoom, color tone correction, enhanced white balance, and general bug fixes. Further camera optimizations include new presets, improved macro mode, better background blur in portrait mode, and enhanced stability. The Nothing Gallery app can now recognize faces and scenes using AI to improve search functionality. Beyond the Phone (3a) series, Nothing has confirmed that Phone (1), Phone (2), Phone (2a), and CMF Phone users will also receive Nothing OS 3.1 later in 2025.
