Aerodynamic Hypotheses Face the Stopwatch The Mercedes-AMG One serves as the primary visual test subject. In highway mode, the rear wing retracts and front vents close, theoretically reducing drag. Transitioning into track mode lowers the chassis, deploys the wing, and opens front fender vents. Despite these significant visual changes, lap times on the Legends Island circuit revealed a razor-thin margin: track mode beat highway mode by just two-tenths of a second. Top-speed runs on the highway yielded identical results, with both modes topping out at exactly 227 mph. The aero differences did not translate into distinct physical behaviors on the virtual road.
