The Power Stroke is a family of diesel engines used in Ford trucks, starting in 1994. Originally manufactured by Navistar International, Ford has designed and produced its own Power Stroke engines since 2011. The Power Stroke line has been marketed against other large-block engines, like the General Motors Duramax V8 and the Dodge Cummins B-Series.
The first engine to bear the Power Stroke name was the 7.3L Power Stroke V8, a Ford version of the Navistar T444E turbo-diesel V8. Over the years, the Power Stroke family has included the 6.0L, 6.4L, 6.7L, 3.2L and 3.0L engines. The 6.7L Power Stroke V8 is assembled in Ford's Chihuahua Engine Plant in Mexico. Once completed, the engines are shipped to Louisville, Kentucky, to be installed in Super Duty trucks. The 6.7L Power Stroke has a compacted graphite iron block, aluminum cylinder heads, and a reverse-flow design, with the exhaust manifold and turbocharger mounted in the engine valley. As of 2021, the 6.7L Power Stroke could achieve an output of 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque.
Pricing for Power Stroke engines varies widely depending on the specific engine, its condition (new, remanufactured, or used), and the vendor. For example, a remanufactured 6.7L Power Stroke long block engine can cost around $8,000. Complete engine packages, builder series, and short blocks also vary in price based on the specific engine. Availability also varies; while some vendors have engines in stock, others may require a few weeks to fulfill an order.
