Midjourney is an AI program that generates images from text descriptions, similar to DALL-E and Stable Diffusion. It is created and hosted by Midjourney, Inc., an independent research lab based in San Francisco. Founded by David Holz, who previously co-founded Leap Motion, Midjourney launched its open beta on July 12, 2022. Midjourney is considered an "engine for the imagination".
Key features include high-quality image generation, rapid generation, and community collaboration. Users can create images by using the /imagine command on the Midjourney Discord server or through the Midjourney website. The AI uses machine learning models trained on vast amounts of data to interpret prompts and generate diverse and detailed images. Midjourney offers features such as upscaling images, creating variations, Vary (Region), image blending, style references, character references and a web interface.
