Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service created by Google. Launched on April 24, 2012, it allows users to store files on Google's servers (in the cloud), synchronize files across devices, and share files. In addition to a web interface, Google Drive offers apps for Windows and macOS computers, as well as Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, providing offline capabilities. Google Drive is integrated with Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides, which are part of the Google Docs Editors suite, enabling collaborative editing of documents, spreadsheets, presentations, drawings, forms, and more.
Google Drive provides 15 GB of free storage, shared across Gmail and Google Photos. Users can upgrade their storage through Google One, with plans that offer 100 GB, 200 GB, 2 TB, and higher storage capacities. As of January 2026, these plans start at $1.99 per month for 100 GB, $2.99 per month for 200 GB, and $9.99 per month for 2 TB. Google Drive also offers Google Workspace plans for businesses, which include additional features like custom business email addresses and video conferencing. The Business Starter plan begins at $6.00 per user per month and includes 30 GB of cloud storage per user. Google Drive is currently available and is a key component of Google Workspace.
