Brant Lake is the name of multiple lakes in the United States. One Brant Lake is a hamlet in the town of Horicon, located in Warren County, New York. It sits approximately halfway between Albany and Plattsburgh. The hamlet is situated just east of the Adirondack Northway and is named for the lake it surrounds. Since the mid-1880s, Brant Lake has been a popular destination for fishing and hunting, drawing wealthy visitors, including Theodore Roosevelt. Circa 1900, several hotels began catering to these visitors. Summer camps for youth were established around the same time.
Another Brant Lake is located in Lake County, South Dakota, two miles north of Chester. This lake spans 1,037 acres and is the last in a chain of four natural lakes formed by receding glaciers. It was named for the large number of white brant (snow geese) that used to occupy the area during migrations. Today, it's a popular spot for outdoor activities, including fishing for walleye and northern pike, and boating. In the winter, ice fishing is a common activity. On January 25, 2026, two people were rescued after falling through the ice on Brant Lake in South Dakota while riding a side-by-side.
