Tom Scott (born in 1984 or 1985) is an English YouTuber, web developer, and presenter known for creating educational videos on his self-titled YouTube channel. His videos cover a wide array of topics, including history, geography, linguistics, science, and technology. He gained mainstream popularity around 2014 with his education series "Things You Might Not Know". Scott's YouTube channels have amassed over 8 million subscribers and nearly 2 billion views as of July 2025. He is also recognized for his trademark red T-shirt, which he wore for continuity during filming.
After a decade of consistent weekly uploads, Scott announced a break from his YouTube schedule starting in January 2024. In November 2024, he released a quiz book inspired by his podcast "Lateral," which celebrates creative problem-solving. In June 2025, Scott posted a video announcing that he was looking for suggestions and collaborations for a potential new series about "interesting stuff in England". The series, tentatively titled "Let's go see England," is scheduled to debut sometime in 2026. In addition to his YouTube work, Scott co-hosts podcasts such as "Lateral" and "The Technical Difficulties".
