Stephen Gary "Steve" Wozniak, born August 11, 1950, is an American technology entrepreneur, electrical engineer, programmer, and inventor. Known as "Woz," he co-founded Apple Computer Inc. in 1976 with Steve Jobs and is recognized as a pioneer of the personal computer revolution. Wozniak designed Apple's first products, the Apple I and Apple II computers, and significantly influenced the Macintosh. The Apple II, introduced in 1977, was one of the first mass-produced microcomputers and was integral in launching the personal computer industry.
After leaving Apple in 1985, Wozniak founded CL 9, creating the first programmable universal remote. He has since been involved in various business and philanthropic ventures, focusing on technology in schools. Wozniak co-founded Woz U, a postsecondary education platform for software engineering, in October 2017 and Efforce, a blockchain-based energy-saving platform, in 2020. He remains an Apple employee in a ceremonial capacity. Wozniak has received numerous awards, including the National Medal of Technology in 1985 and induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2000. In March 2025, Wozniak delivered a keynote at the Talent Arena during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, sharing his insights on innovation and the future of technology.
