Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) is an American politician, media personality, and businessman currently serving as the 47th president of the United States. A member of the Republican Party, he also served as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021. Before entering politics, Trump built a real estate and business empire, becoming chairman of The Trump Organization in 1971. He is known for developing skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. From 2004 to 2015, he gained further prominence as the host of the reality television show "The Apprentice".
In 2016, Trump won the presidential election against Hillary Clinton. During his first term, he enacted significant tax cuts, reduced regulations, and appointed three Supreme Court justices. He also pursued an "America First" policy, renegotiating trade agreements and withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement. After losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden, Trump ran again in 2024 and won against Kamala Harris to become the 47th President of the United States. In the beginning of his second administration, Trump signed Executive Order 14192, which directed agencies to eliminate ten regulations for each new one created. As of early 2026, his administration has finalized 646 deregulatory actions compared to only 5 regulatory actions.
