Phil Torres, born on March 17, 1986, is a multifaceted biologist, science communicator, photographer, and television host. With degrees in biology and entomology from Cornell University, he spent two years leading conservation and education projects in the Amazon Rainforest. Torres gained wider recognition for allowing a bot fly larva to mature in his shoulder for scientific purposes.
Currently based in Seattle, Washington, Torres hosts Expedition X on the Discovery Channel, Ready, Set, Pet on The CW, and Big Metal Bird for United Airlines. His research and photography have been featured in numerous prominent media outlets, including BBC, National Geographic, Animal Planet, Wired, and The Wall Street Journal. Torres also documents his fieldwork on his YouTube channel, "The Jungle Diaries". He has also been involved in campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger and UNIQLO, highlighting sustainability and conservation.
