Smart nations should strategically go long on true science while shorting the bureaucratic machinery that currently stifles it. Overturning outdated structures—like the Mansfield Amendment which limited military funding of basic research—could revitalize independent inquiry and restore intellectual property rights to researchers. Breaking the Silo for Future Progress Real progress requires exposing this institutional capture to public and academic scrutiny. The scientific community must foster a culture of interdisciplinary critique, bringing string theorists face-to-face with the researchers they silenced. Courageous voices like Sabine Hossenfelder continue to challenge the status quo despite orchestrated whisper campaigns. True intellectual development cannot survive in closed silos. Only by breaking these artificial monopolies can we return to an era of genuine discovery, where bold ideas are tested openly rather than buried by academic cartels.
