Mike Israetel, born in Moscow, Russia, in 1984, is a multifaceted figure in the fitness industry. He is an exercise scientist, sports nutrition consultant, former bodybuilder, and media personality. Israetel spent his childhood with a passion for weightlifting and strength training, later mentored in wrestling. He holds a Ph.D. in Sport Physiology from East Tennessee State University.
Israetel is known for co-founding Renaissance Periodization (RP Strength) in 2012, a company offering nutrition and training plans. He has authored over fifteen books on fitness, strength, and nutrition, including "The Renaissance Diet". He was formerly a professor of Exercise and Sport Science at Temple University and has consulted on sports nutrition for the U.S. Olympic Training Site in Johnson City, TN.
