Michael Saylor, born on February 4, 1965, is an American entrepreneur and business executive, best known as the co-founder and executive chairman of MicroStrategy. He founded the company in 1989 and served as CEO from 1989 to 2022. In August 2022, he transitioned to the role of Executive Chairman to focus on MicroStrategy's Bitcoin acquisition strategy. Saylor is also the chairman of the board of directors of Strategy.
Saylor is a vocal advocate for Bitcoin and has steered MicroStrategy to invest heavily in the cryptocurrency. As of February 2026, MicroStrategy holds 714,644 BTC, acquired for $54.35 billion. Recently, MicroStrategy launched a Bitcoin Security Program to address future quantum computing risks. In addition to his work with MicroStrategy and Bitcoin, Saylor founded Saylor Academy, a non-profit organization providing free online education. He is also the author of "The Mobile Wave: How Mobile Intelligence Will Change Everything". In early February 2026, Strategy bought 1,142 BTC for $90 million.
