Marco Pierre White, born on December 11, 1961, is an English chef, restaurateur, and television personality. He is often called the "first celebrity chef" and the "enfant terrible" of the British restaurant scene. White trained under culinary legends like Albert and Michel Roux. In 1995, at the age of 33, he became the first British chef and the youngest chef to earn three Michelin stars. Some notable chefs who trained under White include Gordon Ramsay, Mario Batali, and Heston Blumenthal.
White retired from the kitchen in 1999 and returned his Michelin stars. Since then, he has focused on his restaurant empire. He is involved with numerous restaurants, including the London Steakhouse Company and Marco Pierre White Steak House & Grill. In recent years, new "Mr White's by Marco Pierre White" restaurants have opened, including one in South Shields in October 2025. However, in January 2026, Marco's New York Italian restaurant in Blackpool closed. White has also appeared in several television shows, such as "Hell's Kitchen" and "MasterChef".
