Hugh John Mungo Grant (born September 9, 1960) is an English actor who gained early recognition for portraying charming and vulnerable romantic leads. He has since transitioned into more diverse character roles. Grant's accolades include a British Academy Film Award and a Golden Globe Award. In 2022, Time Out magazine recognized him as one of Britain's 50 greatest actors. His films have grossed over US$4 billion worldwide as of 2025.
Grant's career took off with roles in period dramas like Maurice (1987), for which he won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor, The Remains of the Day (1993), and Sense and Sensibility (1995). He achieved international stardom with the romantic comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), earning him a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award. He continued to star in popular romantic comedies such as Notting Hill (1999), Bridget Jones's Diary (2001) and its sequels, About a Boy (2002), and Love Actually (2003).
