Heston Marc Blumenthal OBE HonFRSC (born May 27, 1966) is an English celebrity chef, television personality, and food writer, celebrated for his innovative and multi-sensory approach to cooking. He gained prominence as the owner of The Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire, a three-Michelin-star restaurant that was named the world's best in 2005. Blumenthal is known for pioneering multi-sensory cooking, food pairing, and flavor encapsulation, and is known for his unusual recipes such as bacon-and-egg ice cream and snail porridge. He also owns Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London, a two-Michelin-star restaurant, as well as The Hinds Head, a one-Michelin-star pub in Bray.
Blumenthal's approach to cooking combines scientific principles with culinary artistry, influencing both professional chefs and home cooks. He has been awarded honorary degrees from the Universities of Reading, Bristol, and London, and was made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry for his advocacy of a scientific approach to cooking. In September 2025, Blumenthal launched "The Mindful Experience" menu at The Fat Duck, designed to cater to changing eating habits motivated by weight loss, offering smaller portions while retaining the same impact of texture and flavor. Blumenthal has also been taking Mounjaro to combat weight gain from his bipolar medication, which has further influenced his interest in mindful eating.
