Gay Hendricks, born on January 20, 1945, is an American psychologist, writer, and teacher known for his work in personal growth, relationships, and body intelligence. He is particularly recognized for his contributions to relationship enhancement and the development of conscious breathing exercises. Hendricks earned his Ph.D. in psychology from Stanford University in 1974. He then became a professor in the Counseling Psychology Department at the University of Colorado for 21 years, where he also founded The Hendricks Institute.
Hendricks has co-authored over 35 books with his wife, Dr. Kathlyn Hendricks. These include bestsellers such as "Conscious Loving" and "The Big Leap". His book, "The Big Leap," introduced concepts like the "Upper Limit Problem" and the "Zone of Genius," and his works are used as primary texts in universities worldwide. Together with his wife, he has appeared on numerous television and radio programs, including Oprah, CNN, and CNBC. Hendricks also co-founded The Spiritual Cinema Circle and has been involved in film production, including serving as executive producer for "Zen Noir" and as a producer and writer for the Louise Hay movie, "You Can Heal Your Life". In addition, he is the author of the Tenzing Norbu mystery series.
