Derek Lunsford, born on May 14, 1993, is an American professional bodybuilder competing in the IFBB Pro League's men's open division. Lunsford's bodybuilding journey began in college after participating in sports like soccer and wrestling throughout his youth. He transitioned to weightlifting, quickly recognizing his talent for building muscle. He sought guidance from personal trainer James Brown to achieve better results. Lunsford is married to Jhelsin Lunsford, and they have a daughter named Evelyn.
Lunsford made his amateur debut in 2015 and earned his IFBB Pro card in 2017. He initially competed in the 212 lb division, achieving top placements at Mr. Olympia. In 2021, he won the 212 Mr. Olympia title. Transitioning to the Open division, he placed second at the 2022 Mr. Olympia. In 2023, Lunsford made history by winning the Mr. Olympia title, becoming the first bodybuilder to win in two divisions. He continued his success by winning the 2025 Arnold Classic and Mr. Olympia title, but faced some criticism from fans after reclaiming his title. In December 2025, Lunsford announced his withdrawal from the 2026 Arnold Classic to focus on defending his title at the 2026 Olympia.
