Daniel Ryan Cormier, born on March 20, 1979, is an American former professional mixed martial artist, freestyle wrestler, and current color commentator for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is widely regarded as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. As a wrestler, Cormier was a six-time US World or Olympic Team Member and won a bronze medal at the World Championships. In MMA, he became the second fighter in UFC history to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously (Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight) and the first to defend titles in two divisions.
Cormier transitioned to MMA after a decorated wrestling career. He quickly rose to prominence, capturing titles in multiple promotions, including Strikeforce, King of the Cage, and XMMA. In the UFC, he defeated Stipe Miocic to win the Heavyweight Championship at UFC 226, becoming a simultaneous two-division champion. Since retiring from professional MMA in August 2020, Cormier has become a regular color commentator for UFC events on ESPN and co-hosts the "Good Guy/Bad Guy" podcast with Chael Sonnen. He also served as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter. In February 2026, Cormier discussed his ongoing frustration with being constantly compared to his former rival Jon Jones.
