Dan Harris, born on July 26, 1971, is an American author, podcaster, and entrepreneur, known for his work in journalism and his advocacy for meditation. He is a former ABC News anchor and correspondent, having hosted shows like Nightline and the weekend editions of Good Morning America. Harris joined ABC News in 2000 and remained there for 21 years, reporting from locations worldwide, including Afghanistan, Iraq, and Haiti. He left ABC News in September 2021 to focus on his meditation company.
Harris is most recognized for his #1 New York Times bestselling book, "10% Happier," which details his personal journey into meditation after experiencing a nationally televised panic attack. He also hosts the "10% Happier" podcast, where he interviews figures from various fields about meditation and well-being. In December 2025, Harris launched a new meditation app called "10% with Dan Harris," designed to help users build a consistent meditation practice through community features, live sessions, and guided meditations. Furthermore, Harris will deliver the baccalaureate lecture and receive an honorary degree at Williams College's commencement in June 2026.
