Brian Denis Cox, born on June 1, 1946, is a highly acclaimed Scottish actor known for his extensive work in theatre, film, and television. A classically trained Shakespearean actor, he has garnered numerous accolades, including two Laurence Olivier Awards, an Emmy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2003. Cox gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Logan Roy in the HBO series Succession (2018–2023), for which he won a Golden Globe. Recently, he starred in the 2022 films Mending the Line and The Independent, and provided a voice role in the animated film The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.

Brian Edward Cox, born on March 3, 1968, is an English physicist and musician, currently a professor of particle physics at the University of Manchester and the Royal Society Professor for Public Engagement in Science. Before his academic career, Cox was a keyboard player for the bands Dare and D:Ream. He is best known as a science communicator, presenting science programs for the BBC, including Wonders of the Solar System, Wonders of the Universe, and The Infinite Monkey Cage. In 2025, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) named Cox its Champion for Space.
Cox has received numerous awards for his efforts to popularize science, including the Institute of Physics Kelvin Medal and Prize in 2010 and the Royal Society Michael Faraday Prize in 2012. He is involved with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Currently, Cox is touring with his new show, Emergence.
