Apolo Anton Ohno (born May 22, 1982) is a retired American short track speed skater and the most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian, having won eight medals (two gold, two silver, and four bronze) across three Olympic Games. Ohno is credited with popularizing short track speed skating in the United States. Beyond his Olympic achievements, he secured 21 world championship medals and 12 U.S. National titles. He was inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame in 2017 and the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame in 2019.
Since retiring from competition after the 2010 Olympics, Ohno has transitioned into various ventures. He is a motivational speaker and advises Fortune 500 leadership teams. He is also an author, with two New York Times bestsellers, "Zero Regrets" and "Hard Pivot". Ohno has invested in health, wellness, and technology companies. Currently, Ohno is a member of the LA28 Athletes' Commission, helping to shape the future of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He is also involved with the Salt Lake City-Utah 2034 Olympic Winter Games bid. In March 2026, he is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at The HFA Show in San Diego, focusing on human connection in a rapidly changing world.
