Alex Rampell is a General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), where he leads the firm's Apps practice with a $1.7 billion fund. He focuses on investments in the financial services and fintech sectors. Rampell is known for his early recognition of the Online-to-Offline (O2O) commerce category and his expertise in software, security, crypto, payments, e-commerce, advertising, and marketplaces.
Before joining Andreessen Horowitz in 2015, Rampell was a serial entrepreneur, co-founding multiple companies, including Affirm, TrialPay, FraudEliminator, Point, TXN, and Yub. TrialPay, a transactional advertising and payments company, was acquired by Visa in 2015. FraudEliminator, an anti-phishing company, was acquired by McAfee in 2006. He has also been an active angel investor in companies like Pinterest and Bloomreach.
In addition to his role at a16z, Rampell serves on the boards of directors of various companies, including Rocket Companies.
