"The Dog Stars" is an upcoming post-apocalyptic science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott, based on Peter Heller's 2012 novel of the same name. The screenplay is by Mark L. Smith and Christopher Wilkinson. Set after a catastrophic flu virus has decimated most of humanity, the film follows Hig, a pilot, and Bangley, an ex-Marine, as they navigate a world filled with danger and the hope for a better life. The film blends themes of isolation, friendship, and hope. It is scheduled to be released in the United States on August 28, 2026, by 20th Century Studios. Streaming availability is not yet known.
