S-Works is the premium performance division of Specialized Bicycle Components, a U.S.-based company located in Morgan Hill, California. Founded in 1974 by Mike Sinyard, Specialized launched the S-Works line in 1992. Inspired by Lockheed Martin's Skunk Works, S-Works was created to push the limits of Specialized's products through research and use of select materials. S-Works designs and engineers its bikes in California, but manufactures the frames in Taiwan and China.
S-Works produces top-tier bikes and cycling products engineered for professional riders. These bikes incorporate the latest innovations, premium materials like FACT 12r carbon fiber, and designs proven in races like the Tour de France and World Championships. The S-Works line includes road bikes like the Tarmac SL8 and Aethos 2, mountain bikes, and a range of cycling products including tires, helmets, and shoes. Recent offerings include the S-Works Ares 2 road racing shoes and a new S-Works clothing collection designed with World Tour cyclists. S-Works bikes are known for their high resale value due to limited production and high demand.
