Adam Savage drops new Savage Industries gear designed with Mafia Bags

Filmmaking and design share a fundamental truth: every detail must serve a purpose. In his latest product release, Adam Savage transitions from his workshop cave to the designer's table, unboxing the newest physical creations from Savage Industries. Created alongside collaborator Mafia Bags, this lineup marks a shift toward accessible utility, focusing on hard-wearing materials and clever construction details.

Protecting the Maker's Mobile Hub

For nearly ten years, Savage Industries has produced gear bags, but they had never created a solution specifically for the modern creative's lifeline: the laptop. Enter the Savage Industries Sail Cloth Laptop Sleeve. Built from resilient white and cream sailcloth with red accents, this sleeve is available in two sizes to accommodate both compact devices and larger 16-inch laptops.

Savage prioritized a built-in handle, solving a common design flaw in modern sleeves by ensuring users can easily extract the device from a larger pack. The sleeve also incorporates loop attachments designed to pair with optional, colorful shoulder straps, converting the sleeve into a standalone minimal carry system.

The Accidental Evolution of the EGBG

Design breakthroughs often emerge from personal necessity. After purchasing an Apple Vision Pro, Savage spent a day at his sewing machine crafting a custom, oval travel pouch. That odd, lunchbox-style prototype inspired the Savage Industries EGBG (Everyday Gear Bag).

The production model includes integrated loop tabs for external accessories like AirPods and a dedicated interior pocket sized for an AirTag tracking device. Interestingly, the bag's initial limited run features a historical quirk: eighty units use red zippers because Savage bought exactly 84 deadstock zippers during a local fabric store's closing sale.

Streamlining the Workshop Classic

To round out the collection, Savage introduced the Savage Industries ASA Two Apron, a simplified, highly durable alternative to his flagship shop apron. Built from sturdy waxed canvas and cotton webbing, this classic shop accessory trades the complex adjustment points of previous versions for three simple snap settings on the neck strap. Designed to be tied strictly at the back, it delivers robust protection for workshop tasks at a more democratic price point.
